How We Research
We want you to know exactly what our recommendations are based on, and what they aren't based on.
Our guides are comparison research, not lab tests
Our current guides are based on specification and source research. We haven't tested these products hands-on. If we ever test a product in person, the guide will say so explicitly and describe what we did. Until then, assume no hands-on testing.
Where our numbers come from
- Dimensions, height ranges, weight capacities, warranties: taken from the manufacturer's own product page or official spec sheet. We link to the source next to each product.
- Prices: read from the manufacturer's or retailer's product page, recorded with the date we checked. Prices change often. If we couldn't retrieve a price, we say "check current price" rather than guess.
- Claims like noise level or lift speed are the manufacturer's figures, not our measurements, and we label them that way.
How we choose and rank products
- We build a shortlist of products sold to US buyers by established brands that fit our small-space focus (for example, desks 53 inches wide or less).
- We collect each product's published specs into one table.
- We rank based on how well those specs fit small rooms (footprint, depth, height range, capacity, adjustability) relative to price, and we explain the trade-offs.
We don't use or publish star ratings, and we don't invent or paraphrase customer reviews as if they were our own.
Affiliate links don't decide rankings
We may earn a commission when you buy through our links (see our disclosure). Commission rates differ between retailers, but they don't affect which products we include or how we rank them. Where a product from a non-affiliated brand fits better, we recommend it.
No health claims
We write about fit, measurements and features. We don't claim that any desk, chair or accessory prevents, treats or relieves any health condition. For health questions, talk to a qualified professional.
Updates and corrections
Each guide shows the date it was last updated. If you spot an error or a spec that has changed, email hello@snugsetup.com and we'll check and correct it.
